If you’ve ever wondered which country was the most popular tourist destination, here’s a lucky find on my part that will satisfy your curiosity.
The map below shows which countries get the most visitors every year.
It might not surprise you to find out that France is the most popular destination, welcoming in 81,400,000 visitors every year. If you’ve stepped foot in Paris and stood on one spot for 2 hours just observing the sea of faces that floats by, you needn’t be a statistician to agree with that poll.
Well, at 81,400 visitors a year, that’s nearly 20 million more visitors annually than the U.S. which comes in second.
Does sound fairly crazy, given France is 15 times smaller … but with wine, cheese, art, museums, monument, nudity, culture and thanks to Hollywood and many writers/ poets’ references to France … with images of romance, it’s a pretty irresistible combination and pull factor to visit.
I can’t comment much about the colour choices of the map created by Move Hub, other than it is absolutely awful … so if you’re in the same boat as me, fortunately there’s also a list of the top 50 below.
|13||Hong Kong SAR, China||22,300,000|
|20||Macao SAR, China||12,900,000|
|26||Egypt, Arab Rep.||9,500,000|
