My Travel Gadgets

keep-calm-portra 650Today, post two collapsed vertebrae and two home robberies that cleared out most of the below, I take as little as possible. Depending on the trip, the “bodies” and “glasses” are determined by 70% of the type of shots I will be taking … and sometimes that means just the Leica M8.2 with the 35mm f1.4 Summilux, the multi functional iPhone or a “monkey box”point-and-shoot.

Also the good news is, rather than equipment hoarding and shooting no more than 20% of the year, there are enough professional photographers out there with excess equipment and pro-equipment dealers who are willing to rent equipment out for a short period of time.Likewise, pay-to-use internet and local SIM cards (where applicable) saves me the hassle of lugging my MacBook Pro and iPad …. and best of all it lowers my risk of being mugged with a cheap mobile phone that’s adequate for calling and sms-ing home.Otherwise, my geek gadgets weighed anything between 12 to 15 kgs; that’s 25-50% more than of my essential packing list!!!

Jammed pack into a Lowepro Trekker 400AW and a Domke F-2 Waxwear, my geek gear typically includes:

the MAIN photography equipment

Nikon D3s

Nikon 700

Nikon D80

24mm f1.4G

85mm f1.4D
